Litang Town in China
China(2007). A munk in Litang Town situated in Sichuan Province of China.
During the 1950s the region around Litang was one of the main areas of Tibetan armed resistance to the Chinese occupation. In 1956 the monastery in Litang was bombed by the Chinese Peoples`s Liberation army.Prior to the Olympic Games in Bejing, Litang was closed down for foreign journalists because of violent protests among Tibetans against the Chinese government. The incident came a head of the 50th anniversary of the exile of Dalai Lama,the Tibetan spritual leader.
